Lime Crime Velvetines matte lipstick in Suedeberry, swatched and reviewed!

I've been yearning for a new lipstick for quite some time now, and since I'd been eyeing Lime Crime's Velvetines, I thought "why not?"

Velvetines is a matte finish liquid lipstick; and when they say matte, boy, do they mean matte. I ordered Suedeberry, which is listed on the site as a "warm, vibrant strawberry red". It is in NO WAY a strawberry red. It is more a salmon color, which is practically neon, a characteristic aggravated by its matte finish. I don't have a problem with the color being more a neon salmon than a strawberry red, but it looks nothing like this:

which is the swatch from the Lime Crime Facebook page.

It came in a really pretty box, which I was forced to destroy to see the application tips. I could have very well googled the tips, but I was excited to see them for myself, forgetting how sad I would be once I tore the box open and ruined some perfectly beautiful packaging.

It's also rather small, and not a lot of product for what you pay for it (although there a definitely other makeup brands that charge you more for about the same amount).

I started out by applying some lipbalm, then applying two coats, letting the first coat dry before the second application. I wasn't able to achieve full opacity until the third coat, of which I have no picture.

Looks nothing like the official swatch now, does it? It is still by all means a very pretty color, but definitely NOT strawberry red. But since I've been looking for a pretty salmon/coral lipstick for a while, this was definitely still something that made me happy. Since it wasn't a slick feeling lip product, and knowing that it was matte and dry, I didn't lick or press my lips together as much throughout the day. My lips were not dried out though, as one might expect from a matte formula.

Although touted on the website as "touch-proof", it isn't exactly that.

Pardon the bleary eyes, I'd been out and about from 11am-10pm. So much tired :(
I was tempted to touch my lips to feel the finish (I just LOVE that it's matte and not slick or sticky) and to my dismay, color came off on my fingertips. I don't think it affected the look of it on my lips though, so it wasn't that bad, just slightly alarming. It is also NOT kiss-proof, unlike what some reviews I've read say. And no, I did not snog anyone violently before making this statement, I lightly kissed my husband on the cheek to discover that I left a pink, powdery lip print. Despite this, I did not have to do any touch-ups at all for nearly 12 hours, and this was even after eating big greasy slices of pizza.

As for removal, I had tested the product on my mother prior to using it on myself. She said it was difficult to remove, even with soap and water, and was scrambling all over our apartment in search of makeup remover wipes. In my case, I used my regular facial wash, and it came right off.

Would I repurchase this product? DEFINITELY. I love the color, I love the consistency, there is nothing I hate about it in the least (aside from the false advertisement as strawberry red).

Etude House Precious Mineral Bright Fit in Honey Beige Review

I purchased this maybe a couple months ago, but only last week had the chance to try this out and make a review!

For about a couple dollars more than the BB Magic Cream, you can get almost twice as much product with more benefits! There is 35ml in the BB Magic Cream, while you can get 60ml with the Bright Fit BB. The Bright Fit BB cream has sunscreen, anti-wrinkle and lightening properties. It also comes in 4 shades: Light Beige, Natural Beige, Honey Beige and Sand Beige.

I decided to purchase Honey Beige, since I was afraid that Sand Beige would be too dark on me.

I'd learned my mistake from the last BB that I bought, and pumped the product with the nozzle on the bottom. It only took me one try to get the product out of the container, as opposed to the last time. The BB cream has a very slight scent. It is also noticeably darker than BB Magic.

Honey Beige!

Size comparison
BB Magic for $11, Precious Mineral for $13

I used BB Magic a a highlighter on my forehead, nose, cheekbones and chin. The Precious Mineral BB was a perfect match for my skin tone. This meant I could always add a bit more on areas I wanted to conceal without looking like a blotchy ghost. The product glided on smoothly when I applied it with my fingers, and blended well. It held up pretty well over 5 hours, and only the BB Magic cream on my nose slightly wore off. It looks kinda ashy with the flash on, but in other kinds of lighting, it looked pretty natural.

sorry for the derp eyes, I wasn't sure where to look.
I give this product a 4/5, and I would definitely repurchase it! By the way, the retailer I got it from is cosmetic.love on eBay, and cosmetic-love.com. This seller is based in Korea, so the prices are much cheaper than what you would normally get, plus the seller always includes free samples! You can get makeup cheaper on the eBay store, but the cosmetic-love site has a membership and allows you to accumulate points, and even become a retailer (to the best of my understanding.

Etude House BB Magic Cream (Moisturizing) review and Moving Car makeup

My first ever eBay purchase, Etude House BB Magic Cream, arrived in the mail about a couple of days ago, and I was so excited to use it! But I thought, "what the heck, I'll use it tomorrow morning for when I go to school". Now, I have a class really early in the morning, so I planned on waking up an hour and a half before I had to leave so I would have time to do this review, but my cellphone alarm had other plans. It didn't go off at all! I wound up waking 15 minutes before I had to leave for school, so I did my makeup in a moving car. Tell me how you think I did (pics at the end)!
I was so excited when thsi came :D
I got this free sample of  "White Moistfull". I'm not sure what it does, but I think it's a  whitening moisturizer? I could easily google this, but I'm too lazy :P

But anyway, on to the review! This BB cream had no special properties aside from being moisturizing. No SPF, no skin whitening at all. It has a slight, pleasant fragrance to it, and is more liquid than I expected it to be (I had tried my sister's Skinfood BB before, and it had felt pasty to me). It was a bit of a challenge getting the pump started, but I got it going after turning it upside down and slightly squeezing it to get the air out.

This is my face when I started out, with sunblock prior to BB cream application. I dare not leave the house without sunblock, especially since I've been using papaya soap. I know I look terrible, but that's what happens when you leave the house in a rush! I kinda freak myself out with how horrible I look before I comb my hair in the mornings. There really is a world of difference.

no flash

As with most, if not all, BB creams it had a whitish cast immediately upon application. I'm not a very fair-skinned person, so the problem of BB creams having a ghastly color was greatly aggravated by my skin tone. It did even out my skin, but you couldn't really tell until it had oxidized about 20-30 minutes later.

This is the makeup I managed to put on during the trip to school. And no, there were barely any stops since we just hop on the freeway. I managed not to mess up my liquid liner ;D

After oxidizing, it started to look much better, despite the fact that I was probably too dark for the shade it came in. And after 14 hours of wear, the only spots it really wore off of was my nose and forehead.

After about 30-45 minutes of wear. Jakey is tired! My classmates decided to photobomb :P

This is after 14 hours of wear! :O

This product is perfect for anybody who likes medium coverage, and is fair skinned. It's also moisturizing, so it helps dry skin as well. I like this product well enough, but I don't like the fact that it doesn't have SPF, and that there's only 35ml, when I can get 50ml (Etude House Bright Fit BB Cream) for about $5 more. It does last a long time, since a little goes a long way. My real problem however is that it doesn't really match my skin tone, and the Bright Fit line has darker shades as well as SPF. So no, I won't be repurchasing it, and I'll be getting Bright Fit next time.

Catch ya'll later

Nicki Minaj makeup look

I decided to play around with my makeup again after seeing my friend Nadine Ibay's current profile picture, wherein here caption was a line from SuperBass.

To tell the truth, that's the only Nicki Minaj song I know. :|

So anyway, here are a few photos from my little experiment.

Taken after putting on the darkest foundation I had...
only to be dismayed by the fact that the lighting washed it out again.
This is probably step 4: apply eyeshadow :P
Finished makeup with the first lipstick I tried... I didn't like it much so...
...I blended some foundation on my lipgloss and eyeshadow lipstick.
After I had put on makeup, the next step of course is to put on my wig. Unfortunately, it's so short that I didn't end up looking like Nicki at all.

ARGH. The bangs are too high
I fixed the wig after having taken about 50 photos and noticing that my bangs were too high.
I look like a ganguro girl, haha! :D
I gave up on the wig after about 80 pictures :P
Uhm... yeah.
Le boyfriend told me that if my hair was pink this would have been perfect
My eyes look so big here!

After a few more shots, I decided to give the goddamn puffy eye look a go. If it worked for Promise Tamang Phan, why shouldn't it work for me?

Unfortunately, I think I looked like a heroin addict instead of a puffy eyed glamor girl.

Anyway, if you've been patient enough, you'll see what you came here for:

Seriously, I think this is the only face Nicki Minaj makes.

So anyway, I just felt like sharing pictures. This wasn't a real blogpost. :P

Later lovers.
